Our commitment: gambling is entertainment, not income
Gambling should be a form of entertainment, paid for out of money you can comfortably afford to lose. It is not a way to earn an income, to win back money you have already lost, or to deal with stress or a difficult period in your life.
Before you play, decide how much you are willing to spend and how long you want to spend playing, and treat that budget the way you would treat the cost of any other evening out. If you reach it, stop. The tools on this page exist to make that decision easier to keep.
In practice, our commitment to you means that we:
- Make deposit, loss and session limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion available to every account holder at no cost.
- Train our support team to recognise signs of harm and to talk through the options with you calmly and without judgement.
- Stop sending promotional messages to anyone who has self-excluded, taken a time-out or opted out of marketing.
- Show your balance, your transaction history and your play history in your account so you always know where you stand.
- May set limits on an account ourselves, or close it, where we are concerned that play is causing harm.
The tools in your account and how to switch them on
Every tool below sits in the safer gambling section of your account, alongside the cashier. You can set a tool at any time, including when you first register, and you do not need to give a reason.
| Tool | What it does | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | Caps the total amount you can pay in over a day, a week or a month. | A lower limit applies as soon as you confirm it. |
| Loss limit | Caps the net amount you can lose over the period you choose. | Play is blocked once the figure you set is reached. |
| Session limit | Closes your session once the length of time you set has passed. | Counts from the moment you log in. |
| Reality check | Shows an on-screen reminder of how long you have played and how you stand. | At the interval you select. |
| Time-out | Locks your account for a short break of the length you choose. | Starts straight away and cannot be lifted early. |
| Self-exclusion | Closes your account to all play for a longer, fixed period. | Starts straight away and runs for the full term. |
Setting a limit or taking a break
- Log in and open the safer gambling section of your account.
- Choose the tool you want: a deposit, loss or session limit, a reality check, a time-out or self-exclusion.
- Enter the amount, period or interval that suits you and confirm it.
- Check the confirmation shown on screen and in the e-mail we send you.
- If you would like help at any stage, use the live chat on the site or write to responsiblegaming@casinogentlemanjim.co.uk.
A new or lower limit takes effect immediately. A request to raise or remove a limit is not applied at once: it is held for the cooling-off period shown in your account, and you must confirm it again afterwards. You can cancel the request at any point during that period.
Time-outs and self-exclusion
A time-out is a short, fixed break. During it you cannot deposit or play, and we stop sending you marketing. You can still log in to see your account and to withdraw any remaining balance.
Self-exclusion is for a longer period, the minimum length being shown when you make the choice. Once it starts it cannot be shortened or cancelled, we close your account to play and remove you from all marketing, and we return any remaining balance to you. At the end of the term your account stays closed until you ask us to reopen it, and we apply a further waiting period before any play can resume.
Signs that gambling may be becoming a problem
Gambling-related harm builds up gradually, and it is easier to spot in habits than in a single session. Go through this checklist honestly from time to time.
- You spend more money, or more time, than you planned to spend.
- You gamble in order to win back money you have lost.
- You borrow money, sell belongings or use funds set aside for bills so that you can keep playing.
- You hide how much you gamble from family, friends or colleagues.
- You feel restless, anxious or low when you are not gambling.
- Gambling is affecting your work, your studies, your sleep or your relationships.
- You find it hard to stop once you have started, even when you had decided where to stop.
- You feel relief rather than enjoyment when you play.
If several of these apply to you, or if someone close to you has raised a concern, set a limit or a time-out now and speak to one of the organisations in the next section. Our support team can also walk you through the options, and nothing you tell us affects your right to withdraw funds that belong to you.
Where to get free, confidential help
The following organisations work independently of us, and their help is free and confidential.
- GambleAware - a charity that funds information, advice and treatment for anyone affected by gambling in Great Britain, including friends and family.
- GamCare - provides free counselling, support groups and a treatment network for people worried about their own gambling or someone else's.
- GamStop - a free self-exclusion scheme: once you register, you are blocked from the gambling websites and apps licensed in Great Britain for the period you choose.
- The National Gambling Helpline - staffed by trained advisers who will talk through your situation in confidence and point you towards local support.
You can find all four by searching for them by name, and your GP can also refer you to treatment services. If you would like us to apply a limit, a time-out or self-exclusion while you arrange support, use the live chat on the site or e-mail support@casinogentlemanjim.co.uk and we will deal with it the same day.
Protecting children and other people in your household
Under-18s are not permitted to gamble with us under any circumstances. We check the age and identity of account holders, and we may ask for documents at registration, before a withdrawal or at any later point. Accounts remain restricted until those checks are complete.
Your account is for your use alone. Please help us keep it that way:
- Never let anyone under 18 use your account, your log-in details or your payment cards.
- Log out fully when you finish playing, particularly on a shared computer, tablet or phone.
- Do not save your password in a browser or app that other people in your home can open.
- Keep cards, banking apps and e-wallet details where children cannot reach them.
- Consider parental control or content-filtering software, which can block gambling sites on a single device or across your home network, and set up separate user profiles for children.
If you believe a person under 18 has used your account, contact us at once through the live chat or at support@casinogentlemanjim.co.uk so that we can secure the account and look into what happened.
